Katie Blankenship on CNN

Our founder and director Katie Blankenship speaks to CNN’s Randi Kaye and David von Blohn investigation of ICE’s reopening of the Glades County Detention Center. Katie has represented multiple former detainees, and argues that Glades remains unfit for use, citing documented medical neglect, abusive treatment, and unsafe conditions from the period when ICE suspended its contract. She’d helped compile complaints and records from more than 30 detainees and, along with advocacy groups, filed numerous official complaints that contributed to the facility’s previous contract pause.
