At SOS, we approach membership as an act of mutual aid: a shared commitment to protect, uplift, and care for one another in the face of systemic violence. Together, we mobilize resources not only to defend those most impacted by state repression but also to build a sustainable, resilient legal support infrastructure grounded in solidarity.

Through an SOS membership, your contributions go directly toward providing legal defense for our indigent clients–individuals facing detention, deportation, and constitutional violations at the hands of the federal government. Your support helps us fight for bond, asylum, habeas corpus, and other federal relief strategies that uphold dignity and justice in profoundly unjust systems.

As a gesture of our collective care and accountability, SOS members receive access to monthly briefings. These intimate sessions feature organizers, attorneys, and directly impacted individuals who offer critical updates, political education, and strategic insight. We share updates on active cases and invite members to engage with the broader campaign work surrounding our clients’ legal battles.

Members also receive our exclusive newsletter, which highlights the impact of your support by including features on individual clients whose legal journeys you’ve helped to fund. This is our way of closing the loop: making visible the tangible outcomes of our shared efforts.

We keep each other safe not through charity, but through solidarity. Our membership model intentionally resists transactional giving. Instead, we cultivate a network of sustained mutual care, where every contribution is part of a larger strategy to protect and empower our most vulnerable community members.

Please consider making an additional one-time donation, boosting our resources to meet the current demand during this crisis of democracy.

You can also donate to a specific pillar of our work:

Sanctuary Spaces

Help SOS build sanctuary spaces throughout the South that will serve as centers of community building, healing, and refuge. SOS Sanctuary Spaces will provide temporary housing for directly impacted people and civil rights workers to recenter themselves so they can continue the fight for collective justice! SOS Spaces will also offer spiritual and healing retreats and a community garden providing sustainable, nourishing fruits, vegetables, and herbs to those in need. We hope to soon expand to New Orleans, Miami, and beyond!

Any contribution helps, and will go directly towards the very first SOS Sanctuary pace in the beautiful hills of Tennessee.

Your $100 donation will pay for one hour of design work on the first SOS Sanctuary Space!

Your $10,000 donation will empower us to build a community meeting pavilion and 4 permanent yurts!

Your $100,000 donation will empower us to build a housing and meeting structure, a community garden, and a barn for animal therapy!

Legal Services

Help SOS provide low bono legal services to directly impacted communities in need of direct services and civil rights assistance. SOS seeks to assist those most in need of legal representation during this onslaught of immigrants’ rights and civil rights abuses. We offer sliding scale services and need assistance to provide a broader range of pro bono legal help. Your monetary contribution will allow us to hire and maintain the staff and resources necessary to meet the incredible demand for assistance in this moment.

Any contribution helps, and will go directly to paying staff thriving wages and securing the resources we need to do the work.

Your $100 donation will pay for one hour of pro bono legal services form our team!

Your $10,000 donation will help cover our payroll for legal team for one month!

Your $100,000 donation will empower us to add another lawyer to our small but mighty team - an addition we urgently need in this unprecedented time of attack on our communities!

Community Projects

SOS supports grassroots organizations in our network and your funds will be evenly split between our two inaugural projects: the Sanctuary New Orleans Abolition Project (SNAP) LGBTQ+ immigrant rights organization and the SweetMary & SavoryJane community wellness kitchen.

Any contribution will assist SOS community projects to provide life-saving resources to directly impacted folks in the South!

Your $150 donation will cover a week’s worth of food for SNAP’s emotional support animals!

Your $500 donation will cover farmer’s market costs for SweetMary & SavoryJane’s next community healing event!

Your $5,000 donation will cover a joint retreat for queer and trans immigrants hosted by SNAP & SweetMary & SavoryJane!

Thank you for your continued support of Sanctuary of the South!
